Streaming & Video Production

In 2021, I became fascinated by the idea of vtubers and streaming through a virtual persona. I had never considered streaming before but the thought of bringing a character to life through streaming appealed to me.I’ve always been a creative person who loves storytelling and someone who loves learning and using technology, so being a vtuber seemed like an ideal space to combine my passions.Streaming has been an incredible experience of meeting new people, learning new skills and new ways to use old skills, and exploring new ways to build community and support other people. My streaming journey has been a solo endeavor, meaning that I needed to learn all the needed skills to be able to produce high quality content. It’s not enough to just set up a microphone and start streaming, the audio and video quality of streams and recorded videos are crucial to an enjoyable experience for the audience.I had some previous experience with audio mixing from being a volunteer sound engineer at churches in the past but I had to learn the tools and tricks for mixing stream audio. The main video production tools I learned were OBS for streaming and recording videos and DaVinci Resolve for editing videos and making clip compilations.I created my character brand and design from scratch. I developed graphic design skills so that I could make custom stream overlays, logos, and schedule templates.I learned how to effectively commission and work with artists to get art made that was beyond my skill level. I also learned how to use Live2D to rig 2D models.Effective social interactions are crucial for being a streamer. I needed to learn how to balance running my stream and interacting with the people in chat. I needed to be welcoming and attentive while also being mindful of the overall flow and tone of the stream.Networking and collaborations are important because they help get your name out there and help your community grow and thrive. I needed to not only pay attention to my community but also interact with other streamers and communities to learn from them and form connections.

I am still early in my streaming and video production journey and still have plenty of room to grow but here are some of my accomplishments so far:

  • Designed my own vtuber character and branding.

  • Learned the skills and tools needed to stream and produce videos.

  • Debuted on April 2, 2022.

  • Reach Twitch affiliate on June 10, 2022.

  • Was a member of the indie vtuber group Orbit from October 2022 to the group’s disbanding in September 2023.

Creative Writing

I have been a creative writer my whole life. It was in early elementary school that I wrote my first poem and I have been writing poetry and fiction ever since.Though many of my creative writing pieces have yet to be published in any form, there are many that are available to read. See the links below to get a taste of my creative writing.

Wordweaver’s Journal

Wordweaver’s Journal is the blog I set up for my vtuber persona (i.e. the character that I created and stream as). The blog covers a variety of short-form writings including: vtuber lore, short stories, and work-in-progress chapters of a novel based around the vtuber lore.

Fanfiction

I am almost constantly writing fanfiction because it is an excellent way to practice creative writing without having to spend large amounts of time on world building. For those who don’t know, fanfiction is a form of writing where you create original stories based on pre-existing worlds and characters. My fanfiction ranges in length from 609 words to 90,998 words and in rating from all-ages to 18+.

Kaznir

Kaznir is my original fantasy romance novel. It is still in the final stages of writing, so it will be a while before it is ready for reading. In the meantime, use the link below to see a brief overview of the story and main characters.

About Me

Hello and welcome!I’m Vic, a technical writer and content creator.I have a passion for learning new skills and using those skills to support, inspire, and empower other people to reach their goals. My strongest skills are in written communication. From fiction to scientific writing, from sentences to 100k-word novels, from initial outlines to final edits, I’ve done a bit of everything as I constantly seek to improve my writing and editing skills. My exceptional writing skills have earned me praise from peers and supervisors alike. Writing is one of my strongest tools and greatest pleasures. One of the greatest assets in the world today is technology. Every day, software is being developed and expanded. I love diving into new software tools and finding innovative ways to use existing ones. I can learn new software and coding languages quickly and easily, allowing me to adapt to new projects and work environments. In this digital age, effective use of software and technology is crucial to staying organized and on top of the ever-changing digital world.Digital content creation is a vibrant and active field. To be noticed, you must stand out visually from the rest. I’ve been developing my video production and graphic design skills so that I can help myself and others stand out and reach content and business goals. Digital content creation isn’t just for arts or entertainment but is becoming increasingly crucial for business and technical fields as well.Organization and time management are key skills to be successful in any area of life. I prioritize careful planning and organizing to ensure that everything gets done on time and to high quality. This requires being detail-oriented and also being able to keep the big picture in mind. It requires consideration of the past, present, and future. Flexibility and adaptability are also important because no matter how well you plan, the unexpected can happen and you must be able to make adjustments on the fly to be able to keep on track. It sounds cliche but teamwork does make the dream work. I love being part of teams working together to produce great things. Every member of a team is valuable and by listening to each other’s ideas and working to people’s strengths endless possibilities are unlocked.Do you have a project or goal but need help making it a reality? Reach out to me and we can discuss the options. I look forward to seeing what we can create together.
